A Glorious Symphony of Destruction
What a magnificent word: SYMPHONY
Most people think of symphony as an elaborate musical composition, engaging a variety of instruments to create a beautiful blend of sound and emotion. It can be so powerful as to transport us, mentally (and some would say spiritually) to places not often visited by our conscious selves.
“When we feel, a kind of lyric is sung in our heart.
When we think, a kind of music is played in our mind.
In harmony, both create a beautiful symphony of life.”– Toba Beta
But to some, the powerful effects of a symphony can be used as metaphor. A metaphor for a kind of mass hypnosis, often deliberately administered by the media, corporate and political elite.
There’s a subtle genius to some “heavy” forms of music that is unseen by many. Here’s one of my favorite examples.
You take a mortal man
And put him in control
Watch him become a god
Watch people’s heads a’rollJust like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes
Swaying to the symphony
Of destruction– Dave Mustaine
What do I think of the symphony? I think it’s both. And without being aware of the powerful symphonic effects all around us, we are blind to two very important aspects of our existence.
Without recognizing the purposeful symphony of destruction, the continuous and hypnotizing stream of information, misinformation and propaganda that these soulless political puppets are blaring at us…we can never rise above it. And if we can never rise above it, we are destined to be led through the streets, as rats.
And without recognizing the magnificent symphony of awe that is available to us, each and every day, via the natural world, the prime mover of our universe, and most importantly one another…then we will forever carry the burden of this existential angst. And we will miss out on the greatest gift that we can give one another…gratitude.
I choose the latter. But I’m well aware of the former.
